After a nightmare stay at another nearby property that made us leave a day early, arriving at The Crossing B & B felt immediately warm and comforting. We loved our stay here. There’s no traditional reception or on-site staff, but self check-in was seamless. Each room has its own name, which added charm. The common sitting room was quiet and cozy, and we enjoyed reading there both during the day and at night. It’s right across from the ScotRail station and a short walk from the pub at Duke of Gordon Hotel and restaurants on High Street. We had a dog-friendly ground-floor room with its own outdoor entrance opening onto the Gynack Burn, a small tributary of the beautiful River Spey. The thoughtful extras made a difference: delicious triple-chocolate cookies for us, plus a bag of treats, waste bags and extra towels for our dog. The room was spacious and had the things we expected, including a wardrobe, luggage rack and desk. The Highland Soap Company products were a lovely touch, and the lemongrass & ginger scent through the shared areas was wonderful. The shower was the hottest we’d had anywhere in the Cairngorms, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. We had the best nights’ sleep of our trip. We had to call once because the radiator and towel warmer weren’t working, but it was sorted immediately and efficiently. Management was responsive and communicative throughout, and we felt well cared for. The Crossing exceeded our expectations and was a highlight of Kingussie. We’d happily stay again and recommend it.

My room was Insh, an individually named, lovely double with a comfy bed, cozy bedding and a good en-suite. The shower had excellent pressure and hot water, and the towels were soft and very good quality. There was a coffee maker, a kettle with the usual complimentary items, and homemade cookies. The flat-screen TV had HDMI sockets for my firestick, and the Wi-Fi was brilliant, with no buffering or lag when downloading. The guest lounge downstairs had tables and comfortable chairs, plus a microwave, fridge, crockery and cutlery for anyone wanting to eat something they’d brought. The place was decorated to a high standard and very quiet despite the main road. There was the occasional tractor, and the sheep were a tad boisterous returning from their Ceilidh. It’s a fabulous place to stay, right by the train station. Self check-in uses a key-coded door to access reception, then you collect your keys from the desk.

We were heading much further north and stayed just one night. The room was lovely, very comfortable, and had plenty of space for us and our dog. Everything was decorated and maintained to a very high standard, and there was a really nice, comfy lounge too. The staff on duty in the morning were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great, especially the lovely porridge. I’d stay again if I’m in the area.

The place felt cozy and welcoming, with a lovely atmosphere, and we were given homemade cookies as a nice gift. Everything was spotless and seemed new, especially the exceptionally clean bathroom. Check-in and check-out were very easy, and it’s on a quiet street. One of the best hotels we’ve stayed at. Highly recommended!

The rooms are very clean, comfortable and well appointed, and the accommodation is really nice. Staff are friendly and helpful. There’s no lunch or dinner, but plenty of places to eat in town, and the breakfast is really good. It’s practically in the town centre and right beside the train station, so handy if you arrive by train. The nearby tracks weren’t an issue for us. Trains aren’t frequent and don’t run at night. A great base for touring the Highlands and for hikers. We liked it 👍
