The Jephson Hotel, BW Signature Collection

The staff were really helpful. I left behind £48 worth of postage stamps for my Christmas cards, and they kindly posted them all back to me, minus one, without any fuss. It’s a good value hotel, a scenic walk from Leamington centre, though a bit farther than you might think. The only small issue was lint on the nightstand shelf and a few cobwebs in the corners. At 60% cheaper per night than the Premier Inn, I can live with that. I know.

The staff seemed friendly, and town is about a 15-20 minute walk away. The hotel itself wasn’t bad, but the decor is tired and could use a clean and tidy up. The room windows are in terrible condition.

The only decent part of the stay was the bathroom. The bedroom was ordinary and the bed felt like I was rolling to one side. It was incredibly noisy too: I could hear every footstep in the hallway and downstairs, and reception staff talking sounded like they were in my room. Food was below average for the price, and the burger was very greasy. There often seemed to be just one person covering reception and the bar. There was no drinking water. The room tap stayed warm even after running it on cold for a while, so I asked for water at the bar. The staff member filled my bottle from a sink marked “not drinking water,” with a green tap that looked like copper corrosion or something similar. I was here for work and was glad it wasn’t at my expense. Nothing special about the place.

The staff were great and the location was good, which makes the room more of a shame. I booked through work, so maybe I just got unlucky, but it was tiny, with a single bed and an absolutely minuscule bathroom. The toilet was down a little corridor that was hard to squeeze through. Old towels and body wash had been left beside the wardrobe, so it clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly.
