The good parts were the clean hotel and the friendly, efficient staff. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, though my wife found a hair on the bacon. The staff apologized, and I didn’t want to make a big fuss about it. Our room was basic, with a bathroom that needs attention: the bath taps weren’t properly attached and the water wasn’t very hot. Room service is advertised until midnight, but when we ordered at about 10:45pm, we were told the chef had gone home and only pizza was available. Also, the first-floor bathroom’s first cubicle door wouldn’t lock.

For work, the location suits me well, and there are plenty of places to eat within a 10-minute walk, which is handy for a longer stay. I’ll be here over the next 14 weeks, and so far the staff have been friendly and professional. The rooms are modern, comfortable, and well maintained, with a welcoming lobby. Having the gym, pool, and sauna to unwind in after work is a bonus. The pool changing rooms feel dated beside the rest of the facilities and could do with a refurbishment, but my first impressions are very positive.

The staff really helped turn around what began as a poor room. Our first room was smelly, perhaps from a blocked drain or a dirty mop, and it had only one towel for two of us. There was one packet of biscuits too, and it was crushed. We asked to move and were quickly given a similar room. It had a chair instead of a couch, but at least it was clean, so we accepted it. Chipo, if I have her name right, was especially helpful with the move and a few other small issues. After dinner at the restaurant, which was surprisingly good for a city centre hotel, my wife wanted chocolate. Reception had none for sale. Chipo first pointed us to the nearest supermarket, then asked us to wait and came back with complimentary chocolates. The rest of the stay went well, and the helpful service made for a pleasant shopping weekend. We stayed in December 2025.

Giorgio in the bar made a big impression. He kept checking we were looked after and brought plenty of energy, and the rest of the bar team were great too. They made a lovely Old Fashioned. We only came up from London for one night, but the comfortable, very clean room and the hotel’s excellent gym and pool made the stay feel well worth it. Being so close to the station was really convenient. I’d highly recommend staying here.
