The room was quiet all night, with no outside noise disturbing my sleep. I was here recently on a work trip and really liked the place. The hotel has a great central location, a lovely bar area, and a good look throughout. My room was great too. I ate out rather than trying the restaurant, though I imagine it’s decent given the rest of the hotel. I’d highly recommend it for a trip to Leeds.

The birthday surprise worked beautifully, right from the arrival. We used valet parking, handed over the keys, and the team took our cases too. By the time we saw them again, they were in the room. Lewis and the team also kept my husband’s gift bags safe before check-in and delivered them to the room. We started with drinks in the main bar, then asked about the Champagne Room and were quickly shown to a table where our friends could join us. With champagne and Lewis looking after us so well, it felt like Dakota heaven. The hotel manager had also left a birthday card for my husband, along with a chocolate and fruit display. Such a personal, thoughtful gesture. I’d booked a Grand Deluxe room for his 50th, and it was just right. The bathroom had underfloor heating, and there were robes, slippers, Molton Brown toiletries, and a stocked bar with wine, beer, and lots of snacks. Even fresh milk was provided for a proper hot drink. The magazines and books were a nice touch too, and late checkout gave us time to enjoy the room properly. Breakfast was excellent, with loads of pastries, including dangerously good chocolate and salted caramel buns. The full English was cooked perfectly. We were surprised they didn’t have brown sauce, and the streaky bacon wasn’t to our taste, though others may enjoy it. The peaceful, luxurious feel and the service made the whole stay feel special. Five star stays like this seem rare these days. We’ll definitely be back.

The price was competitive, not much above some lower-rated hotels nearby, and at under £200 I’d stay again if I needed a room in Leeds. I’d probably have breakfast out next time. The front desk staff were excellent and welcoming, and the room was clean and nice, with a bed, TV, and shower. Room 604 didn’t have a mini fridge. Breakfast was average. The buffet was tiny, with hot food cooked to order, and even though I arrived as soon as it opened I had to wait to be seated. The quality was average too. I don’t stay in many five-star hotels, but I didn’t really see what made this one five star. Anyone paying five-star prices might be disappointed. For me, it was okay, hence 4/5.

The venue itself is stylish and modern, with a sleek but cosy feel, and it’s leagues above most restaurants in Leeds. I’ve eaten at Dakota several times and it’s become one of my favourite places to dine out in the city. Most recently we went for Sunday lunch, and it was just as good as my past visits. We chose the three-course lunch for £40 per person, which was great value. The dishes looked lovely, had loads of flavour, and came in good portions. Do try the sticky toffee pudding. Annie, our host, was fantastic too, friendly, professional, and helpful from the moment we arrived. Service was warm and attentive throughout. I can’t recommend dining here enough and can’t wait to go back.

We’ve stayed in Leeds lots of times, but this was our first visit to Dakota. It definitely won’t be the last. The rooms were clean and stunning, and the B&H toiletries smelled amazing. You really get that luxury feel, and the staff we spoke with were welcoming and friendly. We ate at “The Grill” on NYD and the meal was incredible, with service that went above and beyond. We’ve found our new favourite hotel and restaurant. Thanks, everyone!
