Park Plaza Leeds

The hotel's in a pleasant spot within walking distance of the train station, but the room had serious problems. The hot water ran out while showering, and water leaked heavily from the ceiling, soaking the carpet. The dripping kept us from resting comfortably, and it also raised a security concern. It seems like the place needs some maintenance work. We reported it to reception, but they blamed the aircon and didn't seem to take responsibility or act on it. My husband had ordered Valentine decorations, which looked quite nice, but the flowers felt overpriced: mostly leaves, with only five roses visible.

The room was acceptable, though it could use renovation. There's a bar and fusion restaurant, and the hotel is in a nice location. Staff were okay, but service wasn't outstanding. Parking can be awkward: there's a QR code inside to prepay, but stopping on that road and going in to scan it is inconvenient. I stayed last week and would come back because the price represents fairly good value. I'm not sure it quite reaches four-star standard, though it could pass as three or three and a half.

The hotel is in an excellent position for the market square, train station and nearby shopping, and our room on the 16th floor had great city views. Breakfast was excellent too. The bed was uncomfortable, made from two singles pushed together with a ridge down the middle. There was hardly any clothes storage, and no hooks in the bathroom for accessory bags. It also wasn't disabled friendly, as the shower is over a deep bath, which isn't good.

The beds were comfortable, but the rooms felt a bit tired in places. My bath didn't have a plug, so I had to get maintenance to fix it, and my window wouldn't open because it was awaiting maintenance. The room had shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soap, lotion, tea and coffee. Some staff were great, while others left a lot to be desired. Breakfast had a nice selection, but the process wasn't clear, and staff seemed confused when asked for a vegetarian sausage.
