The Silken Strand Hotel

What stood out most was how relaxed and welcoming it felt from the moment I arrived. The location also makes it easy to explore Leek and the surrounding countryside, with everything you need close by. The rooms were beautifully kept, and there were thoughtful touches throughout. The Silk House balances comfort with the building’s charm, and it’s clear a lot of care goes into both. I’d happily return and recommend it to anyone after a comfortable stay with plenty of character. Five stars, without hesitation.

The mattress was the one thing that let the room down for us. It was much too soft and didn’t give enough support, so a firmer mattress and base would be wonderful. The room itself was excellent, though, and the hospitality was amazing. We got brilliant greetings, and the bar and conversation were fantastic.

The arrival service was attentive, and so was the help with my questions about facilities in the area. I stayed for one night last weekend and didn’t have breakfast, so I can’t comment on it. The hotel is right in the centre of Leek. My room was warm, cosy, very clean, and looked out over the garden, with an extremely comfortable bed. I’d highly recommend the Silk House.

Nick was an ideal host, friendly, knowledgeable and easy to approach. The building is gorgeous and full of character, and the location is fantastic. I enjoyed a drink at the cosy bar in the evening and a great coffee the next morning. Highly recommended.
