The Black Swan Hotel

We dropped in for a meal while visiting Leyburn with my wife and parents. Dad and I ordered the Black Swan burgers, while Mum and my wife had pies. The burgers were massive, tasty and filling, and I could barely finish mine. I tried a bit of my wife's pie too, and that was lovely. Everything arrived quickly and was nicely presented, and the price was absolutely fair. The atmosphere was pleasant, the staff were friendly, and dogs are welcome. I'd happily come back.

Leyburn is a lovely village, and we didn't see any graffiti or litter. Our room was very comfortable, the staff were cheerful and friendly, and there was plenty of free parking. Breakfast was fabulous, with a good choice of cask beers as well. We only stayed the one night, but we'll return. If you're booking a room, I'd suggest phoning them first, as that's the best way to get a preferable rate.

The Sunday lunch turned out to be delicious, and both portions were generous. I had the beef, which was so tender, with homemade Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings. My partner's steak and ale pie was huge and very tasty. The place looked a little neglected while we waited, though they are looking for new managers, which may explain that. We weren't staying, so I can't comment on the rooms. I'd definitely eat here again.

The room was good value, with a comfortable bed and plenty of space in both the room and bathroom. It was frustrating that the kitchen closed at 8 pm and the bar at 9 pm, since that hadn't been mentioned when I booked.
