The place was cosy inside, with a couple of fires in the bar area, and the lounge where we ate had a modern exterior mixed with old stone walls. We'd meant to visit this pub for ages and finally got the chance. Service, setting, and food were all a 10/10. The staff were extremely attentive, which was refreshing to see. I recommend the Lamb Shank! We'll be back soon to try the lunch menu. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

For my 75th birthday, this was the perfect choice. It's a centuries-old pub, and the staff were brilliant and attentive. They even gave us free cake. Other customers seemed like-minded too. Thank you so much, I couldn't have picked anywhere better.

We'd enjoyed meals here on a visit to Finghall last year, but two meals on our return for my 50th birthday this year left me a bit disappointed. The pub is lovely, and the service is good. I just feel that, for what meals cost nowadays, they should be spot on. My partner's lasagne seemed extortionate for just lasagne and salad, without the garlic bread or chips I've always known it to come with. My 10oz steak was more medium-well than the medium-rare I asked for, the Diane sauce was very runny and lacked flavour, and the chips weren't the best. I wouldn't tell people not to try it, as I've had much worse, and I'd give it another go if I stayed in Finghall again. But if the next meal were the same, I wouldn't give it another chance. It's a shame, because it's a lovely pub in a lovely spot when staying at the hare cottage in Finghall.

The atmosphere was lovely, with good music, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, some of the best I've had in a while, and the service was great. I had an excellent experience last week and will be back.

We went for a birthday treat yesterday. My wife had the duck and I chose the pheasant from the specials board, and both were excellent. The QH bread & Butter pudding was top notch too. We both left feeling we'd had a good meal without being uncomfortable. We've eaten here a few times now, and it's our go-to for special nights out. The food is always good and the staff are friendly. :)
