The gym was clean and tidy, and breakfast started with a warm welcome. There was plenty of hot food to choose from and enough trained staff serving it. That was a nice change from the service elsewhere. We waited more than 25 minutes for drinks at the bar, an hour and a half after the races, and at dinner only two servers were trying to cover everything. They were clearly rushed. The serving team itself was good, but there just weren’t enough people on duty. The rooms are good and the location works well, and we’ve been members at Lingfield racecourse for the past few years. We’ve stayed at the Marriott on the course before, but with rooms costing so much, it’s not fair on guests or staff to run service so short. Disappointing from Marriott.

We had a lovely two-night stay, even though I’d been a bit worried after seeing a few bad reviews. The staff at reception and in the restaurant were really friendly, breakfast had lots of tasty options, and our room was clean. We also enjoyed the swimming pool and spa, with towels provided. The place is a little dated, sure, but I think that gives it some charm and makes sense for £115 per night. Parking was free too, so I thought it was good value. Maybe some of the other reviewers have standards that are a bit unrealistic.

The staff were fantastic, really polite and friendly, and breakfast was nice, hot, and had plenty to choose from. We only stayed one night, and the place felt very run down. A lot needs updating. For what you pay, I’d expect it to be tip-top, so unfortunately I won’t be coming back.

We went for a swim, but the pool area wasn’t clean and the ceiling above it was falling down. There were also kids in the hot tub, despite the sign saying no under-18s. The staff were probably the best part, very friendly and polite. My wife and I had booked a night for my birthday, but for the price, the rooms were nothing special and very dated. I definitely wouldn’t return, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

The rooms are well appointed, and it’s a pretty solid hotel. The staff are great. Dody, the Indonesian gentleman who runs the bar, is the real star, a brilliant guy who keeps a good bar.
