I gave it one star because zero wasn’t an option. The rooms were dirty, and the shower head sent water running down the whole wall. I reported it on the first day, but nobody did anything to fix it. The air-conditioning didn’t work in any room. In summer the rooms are ovens, and opening the windows didn’t cool them down. They offered a noisy fan, so getting proper rest wasn’t possible.

The building’s an icon, and it’s lovely to see it being brought back to life. It made a great base for exploring Speke, with Crosby only a short train ride away. Really good service and staff, highly recommend.

A gorgeous Art Deco place with loads of character, great food and fantastic staff. They’re happy to help with anything. We’ll definitely be back when we’re in Liverpool, it’s our only place to stay now.

I was in the car park for just 12 minutes to pick up a taxi passenger, and now I’ve received a £100 fixed penalty. I didn’t realise there were ANPR cameras and that you had to pay to enter. Apparently the car park is privately owned. Shocking treatment. I’d avoid this hotel like the plague. There are plenty of nice places to stay that don’t use these tactics.

The room change took 30 minutes, and the second room had no air-conditioning and a constant blowing noise from outside. After one night, I’d been bitten by insects and couldn’t sleep at all. The first room’s toilet flush didn’t work. When I got back from dinner, it had supposedly been fixed, but the bathtub was leaking and the carpet was soaked and swampy. For a supposed four-star hotel, my stay didn’t even feel like one star. Customer service was poor, and the manager wasn’t helpful or willing to help. The attitude was poor too. I was very disappointed. If you have a choice, don’t pick this hotel.
