Dropped into Harrison’s Bar & Kitchen with a friend for a couple of pints and a bite. We tried the all-day breakfast and a cheeseburger, both were great and filling. It has that classic pub feel, just right for a relaxed catch-up. The staff were really welcoming and friendly. A solid spot for a drink and pub food, and we’ll definitely be back.

The cheese garlic bread and Scouse fries we ordered were delicious, and Adam seemed genuinely pleased to have our group there. It turned out he speaks quite a bit of Irish too. We came for an Irish lesson with ten other people, and the lad behind the bar had the music at just the right level for us to hear each other. I’m sorry I dropped and smashed my cup of tea. Elle was so kind and helpful about it, and within minutes Adam had made me another one, even though I hadn’t had a sip of the first. The only bad part was a very aggressive drunk gentleman who said he was a “solider”. He became hostile towards us, picked up chairs and what I assume was his crutch, and threatened the staff. The lad jumped over the bar to protect us. He didn’t flinch, and after making it clear he wouldn’t be pushed around, he de-escalated things perfectly. It was hostile for a couple of minutes, but he made us all feel safe. Elle and Adam both went out of their way to apologise, as though it were their fault. Class service. I hope our teacher brings us back every Monday.

We only went to the bar, and both the drinks and food were spot on. Definitely try the pulled pork nachos and salt and pepper chicken. My brother and husband were big fans of the halloumi fries too.

The staff were amazing, and breakfast was really good when we went back the next morning. The pub had great live music the night before too.

The city seemed to stay awake all night, with local bars open late. Our apartment was right in the centre, easy to find, and just a short walk from Liverpool One. Inside, it was clean and a decent size, with enough beds for five people, including pull-out beds in the living room. There was a huge shower, a fully working kitchen, and more toilet roll than I’ve ever seen.
