Carl was a fantastic host, friendly and attentive, and we had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch. The dining room is beautiful, with a view over the lawns. I’d been looking forward to the crab and scallop tortellini, but unfortunately it hadn’t been made in time, so I chose the fish and chips instead. The fish had a firm, meaty texture, and its batter melted in my mouth.

We got a good deal through Wowcher, with a room, breakfast and a cocktail included, along with spa access. The staff were all pleasant and made us feel welcome. The room was huge, with a comfy bed, a hot shower and bath, and good tea and coffee options. Breakfast had a really good range of hot and cold food, and the buffet quality was great. There was only one coffee machine, though, so the queue kept building and I gave up trying to get one. The spa had a decent range of facilities in good condition: a sauna, steam room, snow cave and a few jacuzzis. The pool was average, not very large or warm. There were only six loungers, with little space around the pool, so on a busy Saturday there wasn’t really anywhere to lie down and relax. Children could use the pool from 2pm to 4pm. I’m a parent myself, but wouldn’t dream of taking my child to a spa. Kids playing with foam tubes took away from the spa feel and made it hard to relax when everyone else was there for that. I’d return, but would definitely go during the week because of the spa downsides.

The food was delicious and the spa was wonderful, clean and varied. The room was great too, with excellent shower pressure. My friends and I had a lovely weekend at this luxury hotel and spa on a Country Escape package. It included two days of full spa access, lunch up to £20 per person and dinner up to £50 per person on the first day, plus breakfast on the second day. We each had a spa treatment of our choice, and there was a bottle of champagne in our room when we arrived. Staff at the hotel and spa were generally friendly, helpful and keen to make our stay a good one. The only downsides were one spa receptionist who may have been having a bad day, and that the location was quite tricky to get to.

The food was exquisite, at both dinner and breakfast. Our room was beautifully decorated, clean and warm, with very comfortable beds. The surroundings are beautiful and well maintained. Even though the venue was busy, the extremely pleasant and attentive staff made us feel like special guests. The spa facilities were great, very clean and inviting. We’ll definitely return to this lovely 4* hotel.

The tables looked beautiful, with make-your-own decorations, colouring sheets and crayons, and the Santa gift bag had good quality toys inside. The food was gorgeous, and those were honestly the best pancakes I’ve ever had. We went as a family of three with our four-year-old girl, and Santa was kind and respectful, taking his time with the kids. The staff throughout were incredibly kind, professional and friendly. Santa, as always, went down a storm. We visited today for the breakfast with Santa event, and it was magical from start to finish and exceptionally well run. Highly recommend. We’ll be looking again for next year.
