The room, sleep and car park were all pretty much what you'd expect from a Travelodge, and the beds were comfy as usual. At the cheap rates, the stay is probably worth it, as long as you know the attached Brewers Fayre was really poor for us. The staff there were lovely, but our evening meal was cold. The meat was hard and looked as if it had been cooked and reheated several times. Breakfast was much the same: little choice, and the hot buffet food was basically cold and left out without regular replacement until even the scraps were gone. There were pancakes but no syrup, toast with just one kind of jam, and no hot chocolate. The fruit, yogurts and small pastry selection weren't topped up either. The fruit was gone by 9:30am and never replaced. I know Brewers Fayre is usually cheap and nothing special, and we're not posh or asking for much, but this one was especially disappointing. You get what you pay for, I guess, apart from how poor the restaurant was.

The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating, and the food I paid for at the Brewers Fayre was good. The menu choice was very limited, though, because some equipment had failed. There were a few problems with the room. The floor felt unusually soft, as if the floorboards were giving way. On the first night, water from using the bath went down the overflow, seeped out from under the tub and flooded the bathroom floor. Everything was clean, but the place felt a bit old and worn.

I wasn't expecting to pay for parking, since it's always been free on my previous stays here. It cost me £3 per night, which isn't a lot, but guests now have to pay. The room was clean and tidy, the beds had fresh sheets, and there was plenty of information available. Staff were friendly and helpful. There aren't many plug sockets near the beds, though it wasn't a major issue for me.

I booked on the day and still got a good room that was clean, safe, spacious and had everything I needed. Caroline was really sweet and patient when she helped me check in. There was also a very kind member of the night staff in our building, though sorry, I didn't catch their name. Kate made checking out quick and easy. Great service all around!
