I’m disgusted with how the staff handled this. My wife became quite ill, so we couldn’t make our booking through booking.com. Cancelling would have cost £81, which I accepted as fair enough. Booking.com advised me to request a free cancellation through its website. I was also willing to change the dates. I tried calling the hotel more than 30 times, emailed them and sent a message through booking.com. The answer machine picked up every single time, all last night and today. Eventually the property replied through booking.com to say they wouldn’t accept a cancellation but would allow a date change. I agreed straight away, picked an available date and submitted the request. I thought that was fair of them, since they could have just taken the £81. Then they messaged back refusing both the cancellation and the date change. If they’d just told me from the start that I couldn’t come and would still have to pay, I’d have accepted it and wouldn’t be writing this review. I can’t speak for the hotel itself, but I can speak about the staff and my experience as a customer. I’ll add pictures of the whole conversation. If this came from the general manager, he or she should be ashamed. It’s bad business to treat a customer that way, especially after offering a date change. Very poor show!

The views from the hotel are stunning, and it’s a superb base for walking or visiting the Orme. It’s a quaint place with plenty of character and charm, though a few small touches could improve it. My top-floor single was quiet, cosy and warm, and the radiator was easy to use. Everything was very clean and the staff friendly. The carpet could do with replacing, and the shower wasn’t modern, though it worked well. I didn’t enjoy the cooked breakfast, apart from the egg and tomatoes. Parking was on a very steep street, and the car park has just four tight spaces. When I arrived, a van was taking up all the spaces.

Dogs are welcome, which is great, and it’s ideally placed for town and right by the arboretum, handy if you fancy a long walk up Great Orm. We had nice views and found the staff friendly and the breakfast nice. It was clean and had everything we needed for the weekend, though the decor was only okay and the rooms could use an upgrade. Parking can be difficult if you arrive late.

Breakfast was brilliant, with lots to choose from. The place felt beautiful and welcoming, and the view from our room was amazing. We went in November when the weather isn’t at its best, but you can imagine what it must be like on a glorious sunny day. The town centre is a stone’s throw away, as are the pier and cable cart. The cable cart is shut at this time of year.

The views over llandudno are great, and breakfast was very enjoyable. It was a cheap stay, and the three rooms we had were all very clean. Each came with a hairdryer, ironing board and iron. My room was missing a window handle. I reported it on day one, and by day three the window had been taped up so I couldn’t use it. The base of my single bed was badly stained, though a cover would have hidden it. The bedrooms and sitting area need restoration. I’d recommend the sea view rooms.
