Sure Hotel by Best Western Lockerbie

I've stayed here regularly for years and still think of it as the place to stay when I need a hotel in the area. The bedrooms are superb, the facilities are very good, and the dining room is lovely. It's also handy to the M74 for an overnight stop. But something doesn't quite work: the reception staff in particular badly need hospitality skills. They have the tools to move the business forward, yet are holding it back.

After a long day on the road, I got a warm welcome and plenty of help from the staff. My room was immaculate, the restaurant food was good quality, and there was ample parking. A great overnight stay, thanks again.

I've stayed here several times for work over the past few years. The rooms are okay, though the photos make them look better than they are. Breakfast was disappointing, and when the manager wasn't around the staff seemed bored, uninterested and low on motivation. It's a real shame, because with the right person running it, this place could be a gem of a hotel. 😐

I was wary when I was told my booking had been moved to a nearby Travel lodge. I've stayed in plenty of them and, without exception, they've been awful. Then I pulled into the potholed car park and felt that familiar Lodge dread. It turned out to be misplaced. A delightful team greeted me inside. Everyone I met was helpful, cheerful and full of useful information, and a real credit to themselves and the hotel. My room was a little dated, but clean, comfortable and nicely decorated, with a very good bathroom. The dining room and meal were excellent, and the food was superb. The young man at the bar and restaurant was very polite, checked that everything was okay without disturbing our meal, and the young woman serving breakfast and covering reception was cheerful, polite and doing a great job in both areas. Being on the banks of the M6 must make attracting guests and keeping standards up a tough job, but the team is doing a great job in my experience. I'll definitely visit again. Many thanks!
