The £10 fee for an early check-in has changed how I feel about this hotel, especially as I stay here often. I’ve overlooked things like a dirty carpet or an uncleaned bathroom before and just carried on with my stay, so this felt like a poor way to treat a regular guest. I arrived at 1:00 PM, two hours before check-in, and the receptionist confirmed my room was ready. She said I could either pay £10 to get in then or come back in 30 minutes. I was tired and wanted to settle in, so I paid, but I couldn’t see the point of waiting in the lobby when the room was ready. I’ve appreciated the hotel’s flexibility in the past, which made the whole experience baffling. The service felt pedantic.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the location was good, but we won’t be staying here again. We arrived before the 15.00 check-in time and asked the receptionist if we could check in early. She said it would cost 10£, so we paid. When we then asked if we could have the key, she rudely said she was checking. The customer service was completely lacking. She acted as if she was doing us a favour, when she wasn’t. Please try to give guests better service. This was our first and last visit. NEVER AGAIN.

The service gets three stars from me because help wasn’t always available when I needed it. The hotel itself is quiet, well maintained, and offers excellent value. There’s a food court about a five-minute walk away, and a bus stop is close by. Buses and taxis can get you to Stansted Airport in 10 to 15 minutes.

We slept well before our early flight. The room was clean, and the modern bathroom was clean too. There’s food available at the services directly opposite the hotel. Parking was free, and Stansted airport is only a few minutes’ drive away, which worked well for our overnight stay.
