Ashburn Hotel

We’re already thinking about booking the Ashburn Hotel again. Our room was comfortable and gave us a good place to recover from jet lag, and everyone on staff was attentive and welcoming. Gloucester Tube station is a short walk away, with a direct train from London Heathrow. There are plenty of cafés, tea rooms, and places to eat nearby, plus the museums on Cromwell, Hyde Park, and Kensington Palace are all within easy walking distance.

The breakfast fell short for me, especially for the price and the standard of the hotel. The rest of the stay was good: the rooms are a decent size, the cleaning service does its job, and public transport by bus and metro is convenient. You can also walk to the centre in about 20 minutes. Some details could use more attention, since those small things can make a difference, but overall I had a good experience.

I’ve stayed here several times and called ahead to check that our king room would have two separate beds. We arrived today to find a tiny room with just one bed made from two mattresses pushed together. When I raised it, the person in the lobby said that rooms in London are all the same. I also couldn’t leave a message through the hotel website’s contact form. Really disappointing, since this hotel has usually been so kind and pleasant.

The continental breakfast was good, and the staff were efficient and friendly enough to let us check in early. It’s a handy spot for the museums and getting into central London, and we thought it was great value.
