The room was smaller because that was the option I booked, and it had what I needed. It was warm and comfortable through winter, and breakfast was very good value. I've stayed twice, and the staff have been great. There’s no elevator, and the stairs are steeper on the upper floors, so that’s worth knowing if mobility is a concern. Buses are only a few metres away, Paddington station is an easy walk even with luggage, and there are lots of cafes, restaurants, and shops nearby. I’ll stay again next time I visit.

The room and bathroom were clean, but the room was tiny and too warm for January, so I had to leave the window open a bit at night. The bed was a little uncomfortable. There was just one double socket, and one of the sockets didn’t work. The only coffee was Nescafe, with no choice of tea or coffee sachets. The bathroom was cramped, the toilet was too low and close to the sink, and with my mobility issues there wasn’t enough room to sit down or get back up easily. The shower ran very slowly and had no adjustable thermostat. There was only one bath towel and no hand towel. I hadn’t realized I’d be on the very top floor. If the staff had told me, I wouldn’t have stayed. I had severe mobility issues and was upset to find I had to climb about 7/8 flights of stairs, with no bellboy to help with my case. On the first night I asked the receptionist to move me because of the stairs, but he wasn’t helpful. I would have paid extra for a double room on a lower floor, but he didn’t offer that. Climbing the stairs left me in so much pain that sightseeing was difficult. Other guests made a lot of noise at night, talking and laughing without seeming to think that someone was trying to sleep next door.

We stayed in room # 29, up 62 steps, and there was no elevator or bellboy. Imagine dragging 6 suitcases to the third floor. The beds were awful: there were two singles and a double in the middle, and you could feel the springs in both singles. I couldn’t get a decent night’s sleep. When I complained at the desk, I was told there was no vacancy and that the beds were brand new, which was simply false. They offered another room with only two beds, which didn’t work for us. There’s no safe or fridge in the rooms, and they don’t take responsibility for lost or stolen belongings. Our beds weren’t changed during the stay, though the rooms were supposedly cleaned daily. Late at night there was no hot water for showers, and in late November the room had no heat. The window wasn’t airtight, so the room was freezing. They said the boiler had frozen because of the cold. BS. This isn’t a hotel, or even close to one. Don’t bother staying at this motel.

The noise made it hard to get any proper rest, and the reception staff were rude and irresponsible. Nobody seemed willing to take responsibility for their mistakes. I was made to change my own bed sheets and collect them from reception, and they still didn’t give me a duvet cover. That service was absurd and unacceptable. The cleanliness, general environment, and management were all extremely poor. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had.

The staff were so welcoming, and the place worked perfectly as somewhere to rest. The location is right in the centre, close to food, drinks, shops, bus stops, and underground stations. Honestly, it’s the best place I’ve stayed in London. The negative reviews don’t do it justice, so ignore them. Thanks for such a great stay, I’ll definitely be back!
