I was here for two work nights. The location suited me perfectly, but my room looked nothing like the website photos. The walls were filthy, the carpet was worn and dirty, plugs were visible on every wall, and there were extension leads. I’ve never seen a smaller TV in a room. It just didn’t meet my expectations. I was put on the third floor. There’s no lift, and the stairs are narrow and steep, which was tough after my knee surgery. I contacted reception to ask for a lower floor, and they replied quickly and were very helpful, which was great given the place is unmanned.

The location is excellent, right beside the metro entrance, and Borough Market is an easy walk away. The room was roomier than I expected for the price, and the shared bathrooms were clean and spacious. For London, it’s decent value. There are three floors and no elevator, as clearly stated, but the stairs are so narrow that I wouldn’t suggest bringing big suitcases. The walls are thin too, so you may hear your neighbours’ activities without meaning to. If you’re travelling light and want a budget-friendly place in this area, it’s not a bad option.

We enjoyed our stay and would come back. I loved the heated bathroom mirror, though the carpet could use a clean. Getting checked in was tricky for us in our seventies since we’re not very confident with the internet. A lovely man whose name I didn’t catch helped us with the codes. The bedroom door keypad was tiny for people with poor eyesight, but we managed.

The price is pretty good, and the place is close to the tube in a quite nice area. The shared bathrooms were clean, and I never had to wait. Street noise was pretty bad, though, even with earplugs.
