Corbigoe Hotel

We found bed bugs crawling around the room, which was the worst part of a terrible stay. The wall lamps were hanging off with wires exposed, and the bed was brown with dirt and mold. When we asked the receptionist to move us because of the infestation, we were told there were no other rooms. So we booked a much better hotel. As we were leaving, they suddenly had another room available, but we didn't want to stay another second. The receptionist didn't help us figure out how to get a refund. At check-in, we were told to leave the key at reception whenever we went out, and that losing it would cost £40. That didn't make us feel safe leaving our belongings in the room. I hope a health and safety inspector comes and shuts the place down. I'd give it minus stars if I could.

The price and location were the only things that were OK. The website photos look like they could have been taken 30 years ago. During London's heat wave, there was no A/C or even a fan. We bought one at a local hardware store, but it wasn't enough, and we had the worst night's sleep ever. The bathroom door had no knob, so we used a bungee cord to keep it shut. The Wi-Fi kept kicking us off after less than a minute. Our fourth-floor room had no elevator, and staff didn't offer to carry our bags upstairs. We caught the desk clerks sleeping behind the counter, and the maid service was spotty at best. Absolutely horrible hotel in a good location.

We booked a double room three months before our London trip, then arrived to find out it was in the basement. As soon as we went in, the room smelled damp and had no ventilation. Trying the hairdryer nearly got me electrocuted. There was just one towel, one mug and a small bar of soap for the two of us. The small double bed was against a wall on one side, behind the headboard and curtain. When I opened a horrible window, there were bird droppings and other dirt behind it. I told my Husband we were getting out of there and tried for a refund. They offered an upgrade, but no thanks. Keep away, folks.

We were exhausted and had already paid before seeing the room, so we didn't have the energy to find somewhere else, even though I wished we could leave. The room was for four people but came with only one towel and no soap, shampoo or conditioner. There was nowhere to put our luggage, and the clothes hanging space was broken. They brought a small fan, but it wasn't enough. The room reached 42 degrees Celsius, and there was no air conditioning. I had an Expedia receipt showing a first payment, but the hotel said it had been declined and charged me on site for more than the total Expedia had shown. The fifth floor was a struggle to reach on narrow stairs with no elevator, especially with luggage. Terrible experience. Go somewhere else, even if it costs more. It wasn't worth what we paid.
