We'd never stayed in a hotel of this quality before, and the hospitality and breakfast were amazing. The luxury felt a little overwhelming at first, but I suppose you could get used to it. The spa and gym were above expectations too. Berni was especially helpful and kind to us at breakfast. Many thanks.

We had a wonderful time and will be back. What we didn't expect at this five-star hotel was just how friendly and attentive the staff would be. The front desk clerk gave us a tour when we checked in. She was kind, funny and informative. The common areas are beautiful, the location is excellent, and the staff are polite. Our room was clean, comfortable and luxurious. We expected excellence, and got it.

The service at afternoon tea felt impersonal and poorly coordinated, a big disappointment for an occasion we'd clearly described as special. I booked it to celebrate a work achievement and as a New Year's Eve treat. When the staff member asked why, she repeated back, “ok it's for Christmas.” I also said we'd appreciate a nicer area for photos when asked about seating. Instead, we were put beside a cold corridor. From the start, the service felt rushed and pushy. A young male staff member immediately instructed us to order the champagne afternoon tea, without any warmth or concern for our comfort. There were open tables under the central chandelier, so we politely asked to move. We also had to ask for shawls, which shouldn't be necessary at a hotel of this standard. After moving, I noticed my plate was visibly worn, with the decorative details nearly faded away. When I politely asked for another, the staff member rolled her eyes and took it without a word. That really affected our enjoyment. The disappointment was made worse later by a ridiculous spa experience at ESPA Life, which I've reviewed separately. If you're considering Corinthia London for a celebration, I'd advise managing your expectations. I hope the hotel improves staff training, attention to detail and consistency of service.

We only came in for a meal and weren’t staying at the hotel, but the staff made us feel just as welcome. They were so friendly and nothing seemed like a problem. They went above and beyond, and we’d definitely recommend the place. We’re looking forward to staying here next time.
