Even though we were only there for one night, everything was better than we expected. Irene deserves special mention: she was kind, professional, and helpful, and her warm manner made us feel welcome. The hotel is lucky to have her. The DoubleTree by Hilton was spotless and comfortable. Our room was quiet, well cared for, and just right for a relaxing stay. We had a wonderful experience from beginning to end, and would gladly recommend the hotel and stay again.

Breakfast was busy, as you’d expect with so many people in the hotel, but the food was decent and there was a good selection. The layout could be improved, though, since guests crowded around the fridges and it got chaotic at peak times. We stayed one night for an event at ExCeL. The location was very convenient, and the staff stayed attentive, organized, and genuinely helpful despite the huge influx of people. Their service made a real difference. We’d happily return.

The team made my birthday stay at the DoubleTree Hilton London Excel memorable. I got a surprise upgrade to a private suite, complimentary drink vouchers, a food discount, and free parking. Manager Abdullah was especially kind, thoughtful, and professional, and his service really stood out. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the hotel felt welcoming throughout. I had an amazing stay, highly recommend it, and will definitely come back.

After the first night of my four-night stay, I can say the bed is good: neither too hard nor too soft, and the pillows and linens are comfortable. Those hotel basics are handled well. The shower controls are the worst I’ve seen. There are two cylindrical knobs, and you might think one controls water flow and the other temperature. It took me five minutes to work out that I had to pull the upper knob just to get water. Why make every guest spend that time for a supposedly chic room? Good hotel design should make things easier and more convenient. The shower products have the same problem. The words “Soap”, “Shampoo”, and “Condition” should be prominent and at the top. Instead, the labels are in small print at the bottom, with names like “Shower Gel”. What does that even mean? It’s like calling cereal “Kitchen Carbs” or “Pantry Flakes”. And where’s the toothbrush kit? Every decent hotel has provided one for 20 years or more. I expect this one has one too, but hidden in fancy packaging or some obscure spot to make things look chic. They apparently wouldn’t want to leave a wax paper-wrapped toothbrush on the sink labeled “Toothbrush”. That would be too pedestrian. That’s the end of today’s diatribe. It’s aimed at Doubletree chain senior management, not the local staff.
