Hotel 10 Manchester Street

The staff were polite, and check-in and check-out went smoothly, but those positives didn’t make up for the state of the hotel. The room was dated, with tired carpets, old furniture, outdated bathroom fixtures and decor that looked unchanged for decades. Everything worked, but the place badly needs a full renovation to justify the high rates. Noise also made it hard to get a peaceful night’s sleep. I could hear hallway traffic, adjoining rooms and the street, whether because of thin walls or other noise. Even earplugs didn’t block it out. I found the hotel significantly overpriced for what it offers. There are better options nearby with newer rooms and better sound insulation for similar or lower prices. I won’t return and can’t recommend it at the current rates.

I gave the hotel another chance with a one-night booking, but the deposit still hasn’t come back. I paid by card, left the room in excellent condition, and mentioned the refund at checkout. Reception said it would be processed, but there’s been no follow-up. I’m disappointed and have lost confidence in the hotel. Please look into this and return my deposit. I won’t be staying again.

The room was clean, though worn, and the carpets were dirty. The lift felt a bit rickety too. At checkout we were told to pay a service charge, but the receptionist never explained that it was meant to be a discretionary staff tip. I only found that out afterwards, and other reviews suggest this has happened to others. That feels like dirty business. We won’t be back.

Even if you’re not staying at the hotel, it’s a lovely spot for a relaxed drink with friends. The cocktails are delicious, and the little bites go really well with them. Cozy, pleasant atmosphere.
