The A/C was a huge plus and cooled the room well despite the high temperatures. But it made extremely loud banging noises every few minutes, making it hard to relax or get a full night’s sleep. My room was next to the elevator, so I thought the noise came from the shaft or doors. At checkout I realised it was the A/C, after hearing other guests complain about the same thing. I later used the Premier Inn good night guarantee form, which was ignored. When I followed up, I was told the guarantee was a franchise issue and wouldn’t be honoured. The room was fairly nice for the price and wheelchair-friendly, with a spacious bathroom, easy-to-use grab bars by the shower and toilet, a shower seat, zero entry and a fairly quick-drying floor. The accessible room also had a good hair dryer, better than what most budget hotels provide. The location was fantastic and extremely convenient, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was overpriced for continental options like toast, croissants, porridge, wheetabix and plain yogurt, though it was handy to have for very early mornings. Storage was awkward. Outside the bathroom there was only a small side table, a little fold-down surface and a fairly high shelf above the hanging area. There wasn’t any other place to sort out my things, and this room type had no under-bed suitcase storage. The hangers were fixed to the rack, which made the hanging storage hard to use. I also had to specifically ask for more toilet paper. The room started with just half a roll, and housekeeping didn’t replace it during the cleaning I requested. The TV was malfunctioning: the remote didn’t work and neither did the on-demand video options, though this mattered less since you’re likely to be out and about. The headboard had the light controls, but the lights also switched themselves on and off, sometimes in the middle of the night. There were no outlets at the headboard, and neither USB plug on the panel worked, so I had to use my own plug and an adapter.
I was very happy with my stay at Hub in Covent garden while I was in town for the stranger things first shadow show. The location is absolutely perfect for getting around London and really close to the city centre. The rooms are small but cozy and comfortable, with everything you need. I’d definitely recommend it and would return if I’m in the area again soon.
The hotel’s best feature was its great location. The room, though, was in poor condition and felt old and worn. The carpet was so dirty that our socks were visibly grimy afterwards. The bed was too narrow for two people, and the room itself was very small. Shower pressure was so low I could barely wash my hair properly. Breakfast was disappointing too, with a very limited selection: just two types of bread, a little yoghurt and canned fruit. The location might make this acceptable for one night, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a longer stay.
The location is excellent and very central. Rooms are nice and have everything you need, and there’s free tea and coffee at the bar all day. Breakfast is continental but good. Service was good too, friendly and helpful.
Good, but not great. The location is great, and I’d still happily return, though this stay didn’t match the standard of other Hubs. I often stay at the Hubs, mainly the Westminster Abbey one, and the staff here were excellent and always very friendly. Cleanliness in the common areas fell below the hotel’s standard. There was a dirty tissue on my corridor floor for three days, and I eventually threw it away myself because seeing it bothered me. My room was cleaned adequately, but I still don’t understand why the bathrooms have no toilet brushes. It seems essential for keeping such a frequently used area clean. Breakfast wasn’t cooked, which I knew when I booked and understood was why it cost less. Even so, the selection was really limited. The coffee and cappuccino machine also didn’t work for my entire stay. Every time I wanted coffee, I had to go to the desk, wait for a staff member to arrive and ask. I expected management to handle that more efficiently.
