King's Cross Hotel

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location worked perfectly for us. You're near King's Cross station, with easy access to the rest of London. The rooms are simple, but can still make for a really nice stay.

Our stay was very poor, and we won't return. The room was far too small for four people, old, and falling apart in places. It was in the basement beside what looked like a laundry room. Big blue laundry bags were in the way, and we had to climb over them with our cases to reach the room. Cleaning utensils were stored outside the basement window, and there was a bad drain smell just outside our door. The shower was tiny and dripped constantly. Towels were very small, there were no hand towels, and each person had only one pillow. We have photo evidence if needed.

Booking was quick and easy, but that was the only good part. We were put in downstairs Room 2, and were shocked when we opened the door. It had one double and one single bed, leaving almost no space for our two bags. The walls and ceilings were damp, and white flakes covered the single bed. The shower ceiling looked terrible and unhealthy. By morning, our bags were covered in white specks, maybe paint from the walls or something.

The location is the main plus: close to the train station and easy to get to and from. The room was small, and missing slats in the bed made sleep a bit uncomfortable. The tiny ensuite had a toilet seat hanging off and mould on the ceiling, and at one point we had no water. We were up several flights of stairs, with no lift, so it isn't suitable for anyone with disabilities. The walls are thin enough that we could hear next door as clearly as day. The only staff we saw were at the front desk. We got our key and that was it, with no further customer service. If you need somewhere very budget-friendly for one night, fair enough, but I'd personally recommend going elsewhere.
