The location is on a beautiful street, with Sainsbury's, Tesco and other shops just a few steps away. The owner was incredibly kind to us, and there were thoughtful extras in the room: coffee, tea, milk, sugar and a kettle. It was a pleasant, notably quiet place, and everything was very clean. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom exceptionally clean too. It truly deserves 10 stars, though I’m happy to give it the maximum rating. 💜
I’m appalled by what happened. After checking out, I left my luggage in the hotel’s storage. When I came back for it, I immediately noticed that several personal belongings were missing from my bag. I can’t see how it could have been tampered with anywhere else, since it had been at the hotel and then in storage the whole time. When I reported it to reception, they refused to take responsibility and blamed me instead. They wouldn’t help, there was no information from lost and found, no investigation, no apology and no accountability. That level of disrespect and unprofessionalism is unacceptable. You should be able to trust the staff and premises when leaving your luggage, but I couldn’t. Avoid this hotel.
There was no one at reception, and the room itself was extremely cramped and basic. The single-glazed window didn’t fit properly, so a draft blew straight onto the bed.
The location was ideal, but the hotel was quite dirty. The carpets were stained and there was damp in the shower. We had to switch rooms because ours had bed bugs, and the manager didn’t even seem sorry.
The walls are so thin that I could hear the people next door talking until 1am on some nights, and their alarm woke me on others. We’re late sleepers, so it didn’t bother us much, but this isn’t the place if you need quiet. The room was a decent size for two and about what you’d expect for the price. It’s a cheap hotel with a great location, and the 25 minute walk to the theatre district makes up a bit for the lack of service and the room design. Be careful with the room key. When we lost ours, the manager seemed very annoyed and flustered. It looked like they just reprinted the card without resetting the door code, which could mean anyone with a card for your room in London could get in. Hopefully they reset the locks between stays. I might come back for a short stay if I were travelling alone.
