Nazmul Huda deserves a special thank you for being so helpful, showing us where everything was and making the stay better with his hospitality. The room and bathroom were both spotless, and the housekeeping staff were well-presented, attentive and always brought what we asked for. Breakfast was excellent, with delicious food that was kept in very good condition. I had a wonderful stay at the Marriott Hotel.

The staff were great and nothing felt like too much trouble. We really enjoyed the pool, which stayed open late, and breakfast had a great range of choices. Our room was spacious, the beds were comfortable and there were lots of little extras. We had a marvellous weekend here and would definitely recommend it. I'd look to stay again next time I'm in London for a weekend.

The Tube is close by, which made getting around easy. During our two-night stay we had dinner once and tried the breakfast buffet once. The ribeye was pretty good; breakfast was a little below par but still acceptable. Service at breakfast was the weak point: no one came to greet us, and no one cleared our plates. The rooms were clean and, aside from the bathroom design, there wasn't much to complain about. With no exhaust fan and an auto-closing door, the bathroom got extremely hot every time someone showered. I'd still recommend the property.

The location works for me because I was born nearby. Swiss Cottage tube station makes it fairly easy to reach London's tourist areas, and there are often London taxis outside. Even so, of the Marriott hotels I've stayed at across the UK and USA, this is probably one of the worst, along with Marriott Marble Arch in London. They seem to have the same or similar management. I'm a Bonvoy Titanium member and lifetime gold, but on several occasions I haven't got the room I paid for. The room can bear no resemblance to what I booked, and it seems to depend on whether staff like the look of you. An “upgrade” can actually be a downgrade. Reception staff are often rude and indifferent, though not always. Many rooms are in poor condition, and some have mold or damp on the ceilings. It's also often hard to communicate because there doesn't seem to be a native English speaker on duty at reception. I suspect that explains why app replies are canned and often don't relate to the request. There are helpful and friendly staff too, but I feel there's a toxic caste-based culture imported from overseas that clashes with London's multicultural dynamic. The lifts regularly have problems. The restaurant is okay and we often eat there. Breakfast in the executive/M lounge is okay as well, though sometimes the sausages seem undercooked and not very hot. If Marriott refreshed the rooms, improved staff training and made the service consistent, I'd be happy to stay more often. I treat any 5/5 reviews for this hotel as suspect.

We were a family group of 12 and really enjoyed our stay. It's an older-looking hotel, with updated rooms but hallways that show their age. Our room was clean and had a nice street view, and nearby shops and the walkable neighbourhood were convenient. The Tube was ideally close, only 3-4 stops from the museum, Big Ben and similar sights, and Camden Market was a 15-minute walk away.
