Point A Shoreditch

For one person who just wants a clean, modern place to sleep, this works well. The rooms are very tiny, though, and I’d strongly recommend booking “With Window”. There’s no mini fridge or closet. The hotel is clean, has card entry, and the staff are really great. It’s a good-value option for solo travel, within walking distance of three Underground lines. Liverpool Street is among them, with the Elizabeth line running straight to LHR airport. I stayed over a weekend, so the price felt a bit high for the space, but I’d stay again if I needed to.

Dayna was a fabulous help when I checked in a few hours early, and Maria even gave me a complimentary coffee while I waited for my Uber. The staff were super friendly. The second-floor room was clean, tidy, and perfect, and the place had great vibes. There’s a huge breakfast selection, plus complimentary coffee and tea in the morning if you don’t want breakfast. It’s less than a minute from VFS, and the location is great.

I left exhausted and frustrated after a night with loud banging from the door and walls, plus other disturbances that carried on until morning. I didn’t sleep at all. The room was merely adequate for the high price, and there was no bottle of water, kettle, or complimentary refreshment. It was very small, too. Check-in took an unnecessary amount of time because guests have to use the self check-in system regardless. The location was good and the staff welcoming, but those positives were outweighed by the rest. Cleanliness was a serious concern. One of the two towels had a noticeable brown stain, and the toilet was dirty when I arrived. The shampoo seemed to be the same product as the hand soap and smelled so bad it made me severely nauseous and caused me to vomit in the shower. I kept feeling unwell until the next day. I don’t recommend this hotel. The stay was full of hassle and distress, and I wouldn’t want to repeat it.

The location was quite good, but the room wasn’t ready even though I arrived after 3PM. They’d promised us a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine, but it never came. Cleaning often began at 8AM, and every movement carried through the room, especially the vacuum cleaner banging against the walls, so don’t expect quiet. The rooms are tiny, with no small table and nowhere to put your things beside the bed on one side. There are only two power outlets, so you’re constantly switching what’s plugged in. There’s no small fridge or kettle, and the coffee machine that could provide hot water is locked after breakfast.
