Premier Inn London Southwark Tate Modern

The location made things easy, with great public transport links and lots of good cafes and restaurants nearby. We had a wonderful stay at the Tate Modern Premier inn, and the team were fantastic, from check-in to the bar. Every request was handled with a friendly smile, and nothing seemed too much trouble. I left something behind, and reception and housekeeping were both so helpful. They're kindly keeping it for me until I visit again in a few weeks. Great hotel and team, we'll definitely be back. The shower worked perfectly, and the room felt cosy, clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly from the moment I arrived and made everything easy. I had a really lovely stay at Premier Inn and would happily book Premier Inn Tate Modern again.

I’d recommend Z Hotel if you want to stay in the centre. I’ve slept at a couple of their hotels and Z has been great. Here, though, I can’t sleep because there’s a noise right beside the bed, like a machine switching on and off. I can’t tell if it’s the water or the heating, and it sounds as if the walls are paper thin. I’m here for work and need to get up early, so this hotel hasn’t given me the sleep I needed. One star.

The room was clean, and the staff did try their best, but this place needs serious attention and investment. I’m writing this as someone who used to work in a hotel, and I’ve got a list of things that bothered me. I’m sharing it to help the people running the hotel, not to get into a review exchange or angle for a free breakfast. The breakfast isn’t great, either, and there’s no non-dairy milk, which is quite something in central London in 2025. The corridor to the rooms looks pitiful. The windows are so dirty you can’t see out, and the free internet is too slow. My air con was noisy enough to wake a light sleeper, the TV switched itself on and off, and the hair dryer either didn’t work or stopped after a minute. The bed was a bit too soft, almost as if there were a duvet on top of it. There was no toilet brush in the bathroom, which is especially poor when rooms aren’t cleaned daily and you have to ask. There was just one hook and no rack for drying towels or the bath mat. My key didn’t work on the second day. On the first day, they sent me to the wrong room, then knocked on my door several times while confused about their own mistake.
