Prince of Wales - Townhouse

The pub was comfortable, had a great selection of beers, and served a good breakfast. We stayed upstairs in a spacious room with everything we needed, and the welcome was friendly. We chose the place because it was handy for an evening event. Just be ready for a bit of noise, since the rooms are above the pub. Well worth a stay.

I live in Spain and came over to watch my team, Middlesbrough, play QPR. I was really looking forward to the roast beef, since Sunday roast is one of my favourite meals to make, but the meal was pretty bland. I had to add quite a lot of seasoning.

The pub is spacious and has plenty of screens and a pool table, so it could work for a drink with friends while watching a game. Our Sunday lunch, though, was a huge disappointment and a waste of food and money. The roast looked good when it arrived, but the meat was overcooked, especially the beef, which was hard, dry and blackened. We couldn't eat it. We also ordered Coke and got flat Pepsi. Earlier, the staff seemed unprepared and uninterested, the tables were dirty, and there were only festive menus on the tables. We waited through three trips for two teas and milk, with one cup arriving at a time and no spoon. By the time the milk showed up, the tea had gone cold. It was a quiet Sunday at 12:30, but service was still poor. The boys had been especially excited about the giant Yorkshire pudding roast, so it was painful to see the lunch turn out this way when there were so many other places we could have gone.

My boyfriend and I stayed here last week and loved how homely it felt. Everything was really clean and tidy, and the pub was immaculate. A lovely, super helpful lady greeted us when we arrived. The food was delicious too. We'd absolutely recommend it and will be back. Erin x
