The location is great and the pub staff are really friendly, but I can’t find anything positive about the hostel itself. The floors weren’t swept or cleaned, and I never saw an employee or janitor in the hostel area during my stay. Everything felt dirty, from mould in the room and shower to standing water in a bathroom that seemed to be sinking into the floor. The bathrooms smelled like rotting hair. There was very little space to secure belongings, and even that didn’t feel very secure. The room got boiling hot at night, and the triple bunk had no curtain and hardly any headroom. It’s the cheapest in the city, so you get what you pay for. It’s a shame, since some of this could be fixed with very little effort, but nothing seems to be done.

The in-house pub was a highlight, with tasty food and a good range of beers. It was an easy place to unwind without going back out. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, just right for relaxing after a long day exploring London. The location made it easy to reach public transport, nearby attractions, and everyday conveniences. Staff were very friendly and helpful, always ready to assist. I had a pleasant stay and would recommend this hotel to people visiting London.

We had a private room with a really nice bathroom, and the room itself was roomy. The bed seemed like it might give way at any moment, though, and the blind wouldn't shut. It got pretty warm, but the fan helped a lot. The staff were patient and kind, and we liked having the pub downstairs. We didn't eat there, but the food choices looked good. Borough Market and several Tube stations are close by. For the price, I think it's good value. I'd come back, probably for no more than three days.

The one real bright spot was having a pub downstairs, plus one of the night porters was fantastic and genuinely helpful. The hostel has a great location and some lovely staff, so with a bit of care it could be really good. As it is, though, the place felt terribly maintained. I needed a cheap bed after weekend and Christmas prices pushed other places out of reach, and it does serve as a cheap option, but the rooms were filthy. I dropped something under the bed and regretted looking underneath. It didn't look like it had ever been cleaned, and I'm fairly sure something bit my hand. The heavy room doors slam loudly, and the bathroom door cut my foot when I went in at night. One bathroom had used tissues all over the floor. In the other, the toilet seemed to have come loose from the wall and was leaking underneath. I spent my time in there trying not to touch anything. Management really needs to sort these things out. Please do better.

It kept us warm at the end of November, and the beds came with sheets, a pillow and a duvet, which I appreciated since some hostels only provide sheets or a blanket. The two showers had warm water, though I'd bring flip-flops for them. Our room also had an opening window, a mirror, a desk and storage lockers, so bring your own padlock. The beds are triple bunks, meaning there's no room to sit upright in them. For a night after being out in London, it was great value.
