St Mark's Merit Hotels

The room was beautiful and stunning, especially for what I paid. I was surprised it wasn’t expensive. There was a good quality iron available to use, and the location was great, just a short tube ride from central London. I’d definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone.

We came back for a second stay, this time to celebrate a birthday, and enjoyed it just as much as before. The room was fabulous, clean, comfortable, and exactly what we needed. The location is unbeatable for exploring London. There was some restoration work starting early in the morning, but it was minor and didn’t affect our stay. We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.

I booked through a third party in a hurry and got the dates wrong. An hour later I asked if they’d make a goodwill exception so I could cancel and rebook for later. Instead of helping, the front desk team were incredibly rude. I’ve never encountered a ruder team, and I’ll never stay here. I was charged the full price for a stay I’m not taking, and they made sorting it out a horrible process. I should have read the other reviews first. It’s strange how they operate. Who manages this team? There are other good hotels in the area for similar prices, so I wouldn’t recommend this one.

The room was poorly maintained, and when I raised concerns, the front desk seemed indifferent. What should’ve been a relaxing stay became stressful because of the attitude and lack of basic customer service. For what they charged, I expected at least a basic level of hospitality. I wouldn’t recommend the place to anyone looking for comfort, respect, or even standard service. At arrival, the reception staff were rude and dismissive, making me feel like an inconvenience. They also asked for a deposit that hadn’t been mentioned during booking, then insisted on keeping my ID after taking it. That felt unnecessary and made me uncomfortable. The whole process lacked transparency and professionalism.
