The Montague on the Gardens

Amazing, amazing, amazing. There really aren't better words for this hotel. The rooms feel authentic, the food was perfect, and the staff were friendly, happy, and helpful. There were too many people to remember everyone's names, but every single one was simply lovely. Sam in the bar deserves a thank you, I remembered him from our last visit. And a special mention to Fred, who helped with our booking before we arrived. His service was exceptional. This was our third visit, and I can honestly say we won't stay anywhere else next time. Thank you all, keep up the amazing work.

We were surprised by the optional £15 daily service fee for gratuity. The staff were so good that we didn’t mind paying it, though if we’d known in advance, we might have used the hotel’s services more. The location’s hard to beat: quiet, but close to everything. Our room was roomy and mostly comfortable, and there were fun extras like a hot chocolate bar, candy station, gym and cozy lobby. Great place, and the service was very attentive. I only wish the gym had a few dumbbells or other weights. It had several nice cardio machines, but nothing for strength training.

The hotel management got in touch later that same day and sorted out the misunderstanding right away. Thanks for the quick response. Great service and a great establishment. Before that, though, we had a frustrating time with housekeeping management. We asked for the beds to be made into two twins when we arrived, but it took two days. They also kept leaving sparkling water instead of still water, which we don’t drink. After we complained a couple of days later, they brought two small bottles of still water. When I asked the housekeeping manager to swap the unused sparkling bottles for still water, she wanted to charge us. Unbelievable how easily a bad management decision can affect an otherwise good stay. Her reason was that she’d asked my son earlier if we needed anything, and he’d said everything was fine. The hotel and the staff are wonderful, apart from the housekeeping management team.

The early morning of Boxing Day turned difficult when we had a health issue. The staff helped us work out an unfamiliar healthcare system and find suitable treatment. Once we got back, they kept checking on us and made sure we had food, water and the care we needed to recover. Their service was impeccable. We were in London for Christmas on our honeymoon, and The Montague on the Gardens made the occasion feel special. The hotel has loads of classic charm, and the staff were warm and attentive. They learned our names quickly, so the whole stay felt personal and easy. We arrived around 9:00 a.m. after an overnight flight, clearing customs and arranging our driver, but our room was ready in about 20 minutes. That gave us time to freshen up before exploring the city. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the welcome set the tone for the visit. Breakfast was included, and we made the most of it all three mornings. The food was great, the service was lovely and the coffee was excellent. We’d highly recommend The Montague on the Gardens to anyone staying in London. It made our honeymoon all the more special.
