Lillian was the hidden gem here. She helped us through the whole process and was the reason our stay turned out positively. The room itself was small and only okay at best, with a leak right above the electricals. They wanted to move us, but we had too much stuff and Valentine’s Day decorations to manage, so we had to stay put. There was no soap, though the shower was lovely. The location was okay, but the bus stop outside was out of order, so we had to Uber everywhere.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly. We had a good stay and a positive impression of the hotel, apart from one thing: our checkout was at 12:00, but a cleaner knocked around 11:30 to clean the room. We were still inside and hadn’t checked out, so it was disturbing and made us feel rushed and uncomfortable. It seemed unprofessional.

My sister and I stayed for a few nights. The bedrooms were clean and well appointed, and the hotel has recently been refurbished, with a light, airy feel from Reception through the cafe/bar to the restaurant. I can recommend the Keralan cauliflower curry. The receptionists were kind and incredibly helpful. I’d recommend this hotel.

The biggest concern was the key card policy: we were told anyone could get an extra card or have one switched back on just by giving the room number, without showing ID. That feels like a serious security risk. We also couldn’t move rooms because it was a busy half-term weekend. On the sixth floor, the room had a persistent cigarette smell followed by strong cooking odors that seemed to come from full meals being prepared. At night there was banging, drawers opening even though our room had no drawers, and loud conversation from next door. It was hard to sleep. The windows let in a noticeable draft and fogged up in the cold while we tried to warm the room. The stay was uncomfortable and left us worried about safety and standards. Avoid floor 6, you can probably google what travelodge offers.
