The pizza I ordered using the restaurant QR code was decent, but my Guinness never arrived. They let you order Guinness even though the bar doesn’t stock it. The staff were nice, but not always around. My room was in a separate building called ‘The Bakery’. The shared areas were grim, with food wrappers and dirty tissues scattered on the floors and stairs. There was no hair dryer in the room, and reception had none either. At £165 a night in 2026, that’s a really basic thing to be missing. There was also no TV remote, so the TV, barely bigger than my phone, was unusable. Honestly, this place is an absolute shambles of a hotel!

After seeing several recent reviews about bed bugs and pest control treatments, we chose to cancel our stay. The possibility of bringing bed bugs home is a serious concern, and we didn’t think it was worth risking under any circumstances. We contacted the property right away to ask for a refund, but they refused. It was very disappointing to have a legitimate health concern handled this way. Guests should feel safe and informed when they book, and we didn’t feel that was assured here. I strongly recommend checking recent reviews carefully before booking.

Check-in was quick and the stay was comfortable, with very good value given the quality and prices in the surrounding area. I didn’t eat at the restaurant, but it was handy to have one nearby because dining choices close by were limited. There are some excellent places to eat about a 15-minute walk away. I’d be happy to return.

Rooms are basic but functional, and staff are generally friendly. The hotel is affordable and conveniently placed near the DLR and local shops. Some guests mention cleanliness and maintenance problems, particularly during refurbishments. It works well for a short budget stay, though anyone expecting luxury or a full range of amenities may be disappointed.
