Holiday Inn Express Derry - Londonderry

Christine at reception was especially helpful, answering our questions about how far Derry FC was and where to eat. We stayed on the fourth floor at the holiday inn in dery on Friday night. The room was spotless and the bed really comfortable. All the reception staff were lovely, and breakfast the next morning was lovely too. Thank you, holiday inn derry. Irish people are so welcoming. We checked out today, and I'm glad to be gone. We arrived on Thursday the 5th to find toothpaste in the sink, rice across the floor and stains on everything in our first room. We told the front desk right away and were moved, but the next room was no better: the TV didn't work at all, part of the bed was broken, and there were stains everywhere again. My partner asked for fresh towels and staff said they were busy and to wait about an hour. Service wasn't great. There's no room service, and dining stops after 9:45. On top of that, you need new key cards every day or you get locked out of your room. I don't recommend this place.

The rooms were spotless and tidy, and the double beds were at least 6ft wide. I'm a very light sleeper, so I asked to switch rooms, and they found me a quieter one and went above and beyond to help. The staff were wonderful across the board, with Pauline being especially kind and helpful.

Breakfast was included and had plenty of choice. We also tried the hotel's Kaboodle bar for drinks and food, and were very impressed. The staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Parking across the road in the Quay car park is half price. We were very impressed with the hotel and its ideal location for exploring the city. We'd definitely stay again and have no hesitation recommending it.
