Mice everywhere! We had an awful stay. Keep your camera ready if you want to catch the mouse celebrities making their cameos, because otherwise the accommodation will deny it happened. They know the whole building is infested with rodents. Customer service was terrible, and the place never answers the phone. The so-called “reception” is in another building, so if you run out of your room to tell them, be prepared to walk down the street in your pyjamas. They won’t do anything except tell you to lock the rat in your bathroom and not use it that night. Unbelievable. Stay away from this abominable rat house.

All the nearby hotels were sold out, so we tried Anwar House, but we couldn’t bring ourselves to stay. It’s decades out of date, and the entrance hall carpet was ripped from the door to the stairwell, old and filthy. The stairwell carpet leading to the rooms was just as dirty and looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed in months, possibly years. The price was great, but the value was terrible. We asked for a refund and were refused, so we had to head back toward Heathrow to find a decent hotel with vacancies. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone unless it’s a last resort.

We paid for five days and four nights at Anwar House Hotel, but were so unhappy that we moved to another hotel. The money felt completely wasted, and we didn’t get to enjoy the stay at all. The property was filthy and neglected from the start. The entrance smelled foul and was dirty and unwelcoming. Our basement room was dark, damp and unbearably dirty, with poor water quality and a sticky, smelly feel. The furniture and doors seemed broken or in disrepair. The toilet was unbearable and made it impossible to rest. It felt like nobody cared for or maintained the place. This was a disgrace to hospitality, and I strongly advise others to stay far away.

The location is fabulous, and the price felt like good value for a simple stay. Whenever we needed anything, the staff were around and really friendly.

We left within half an hour of checking in. The room was unclean, and the corridor was piled high with laundry. The biggest concern for me was being given a master key that opened both the front door and our room, meaning everyone could get into every room. We’d booked because my granddaughter wanted to visit the natural history museum, but I couldn’t bear to stay there, so we found somewhere else. Management wouldn’t refund us, but our safety matters far more than the money. Don’t waste yours.
