Our room was modest and clean, and smaller than an average hotel room but not tiny. Being near a station made getting around London easy, and the 25% off offer at nearby Lola’s was great. I’d recommend Charlotte Guest House to able-bodied solo travellers or couples without a car who want a budget-friendly London stay. We arrived tired after driving from Bath, only to find that the road where we were staying was too expensive for parking. We had to park several blocks away, about a 7-10 minute walk depending on luggage, on a street where we only had to pay between 10am and noon. There was no lift, so we also carried our bags up to the fourth floor. I appreciated that an employee stayed late to help us check in. He was very nice and helped with the luggage. The day before, while we were travelling to our hotel in bath, Charlotte Guest House called to ask when we’d arrive. I said our booking started the following night, but they told me it covered that night too and we’d have to pay for an extra night because it was non-refundable. I agreed because I was driving and couldn’t check my confirmation email then. Later I found it and sent proof that our dates were correct. Somehow their system had the wrong dates, but they fixed it and thankfully didn’t charge us for an extra night. I knew before visiting that Charlotte Guest House was spread across different properties, so that part didn’t surprise me. I just wish I’d looked into the parking situation more.

The area is lively, with supermarkets, restaurants, and cafes all around the hotel. The rooms are modern, very clean, and kept at a warm, comfortable temperature. Reception and other staff were friendly and helpful, and I felt comfortable throughout my stay. I’d definitely stay here again and highly recommend it 🙌

The room was a lovely little loft conversion, with a really comfortable single bed, and I slept well. The whole place felt clean and well cared for, without the stale smell I’ve found in some guest houses. I needed somewhere affordable but decent for long work shifts in London, and Charlotte Guest House more than did the job. It’s in a pleasant part of the city, with plenty of shops and restaurants just a short walk away, and the price was brilliant. I arrived late and didn’t see any staff, but the check-in instructions were clear and easy to follow. There’s also a deal with a cafe at the end of the road for 25% off breakfast before a certain time. I like that idea, and think it says something about the owner’s entrepreneurial spirit. The TV signal wasn’t working, but that didn’t really bother me since I watch things on my iPad, so I’m not taking off points for it. I highly recommend this hotel.

The room was a good size, very clean, and cleaned every day. It’s in a handy area with plenty of shops, about a five-minute walk from the Underground and right next to the trains. Check-in and checkout were easy, and staff were willing to help.

The carpet in our room had a strong, unpleasant smell that made the stay less comfortable. Air fresheners didn’t help, and it really needs replacing. With that small fix, this place could be perfect. Charlotte Guest House is in an excellent spot, close to transport and nice cafés. The shower was great and the staff were friendly.
