Best Western The Hatfield Hotel

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast selection was good. The chef made an excellent cooked breakfast. A pint of tap water with a splash of cordial cost me £2.50. I was there for two nights on a December business trip. The seafront location was handy for my work, and the room rate was very low. It’s an old building that hasn’t been updated in a long time, with threadbare patches in the carpets. My twin room at the side had a TV with terrestrial channels only, plus tea and coffee facilities. I could hear people upstairs using the toilet at night, and road sweepers and other vehicles outside woke me early. The blinds had no setting between fully open and fully closed. The shower room had liquid soap dispensers over the basin and in the cubicle, which felt uninviting, and the water was uncontrollably hot. Because of the room layout, the TV could only be watched from the beds.

Anthony was attentive, helpful and friendly, staying in touch right up to the day of our event to make sure our requirements were met. We arranged a wake at the Hatfield hotel, and he and the events team were very accommodating about dietary needs, music and the equipment provided. The room was well laid out, with a great view of the seafront. I’d highly recommend this venue for functions, smaller occasions and events at the library.

We were so impressed by the carvery that we came back the next day for breakfast before driving home. I’ve had plenty of roasts over my 48 years, and this was easily the best. The full English looked amazing, and my Eggs Royale was cooked perfectly. Worth every penny, and I’ll definitely dine there again. I was staying with friends nearby when we popped into the Hatfield.

I used to think this place was decent, but since management changed, the service has gone downhill. I won’t come back or recommend it to my friends. I used to meet about 10 of my local friends here for coffee, so they’ve lost that group of customers. I’ve only used the restaurant, so I can’t comment on the hotel.
