We found this Inn after deciding to go to the pub for food while staying at the Whitemead Forest Park on 23/01/2026. We hadn’t booked, but they managed to fit us in, though I’d recommend booking. The staff were welcoming and friendly when we arrived, and there was a really good selection of drinks. I can’t comment on the Rooms, which is why there’s no star for them. The menu had a good variety and was reasonably priced, definitely worth the money. My Pork Medallions were really lovely, and they gave me soft veg when I asked. My partner enjoyed the Chicken Pie too. The food came out lovely and hot. I’d recommend it and go again.

We had a fantastic lunch, with good sized portions at competitive prices. The biscoff brownie was heavenly. Service was good, the staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was lovely. It was my first time back at this pub in a long while, and I’ll definitely visit again.

The team were so welcoming, and the food was delicious. We especially loved the beef stew and pumpkin soup. We had a perfect weekend, and the ladies in the kitchen even remembered our request for ketchup at breakfast and brought it the next morning. The building is gorgeous and cosy, with a really interesting history. We did our best to read the guides and books about stonemasonry, and liked the wall art. Our room was wonderfully warm, absolute heaven, with a great bath and toiletries. Breakfast was really good too. The location is perfect for exploring the Forest of Dean. Driving in and parking were easy, everything was clear and helpful, and we got excellent advice on places to visit in the Forest. Can’t wait to come back very soon. No notes.

This is our favourite pub in Parkend, and we come every year. The staff are always friendly and very helpful. This year, though, the menu felt somewhat limited, prices have gone up a bit, and the Fountain burger seems to have got smaller, so I’ve taken off a star.

The food was good except for the kids’ mac and cheese, which was bland. Service was excellent, and the prices seemed okay for the meal size. We were happy overall, though the second dining room could have used more atmosphere.
