Being just steps from the lovely village was great, and we loved the coffee at the black dog and the Gluten Free Pizza from the bird cage. The rooms are beautiful, and breakfast was incredible. This was just the break we needed. It’s my second stay and I love how warm and welcoming it feels. All the staff are lovely and really helpful with my allergies and food intolerances. We’ll definitely make this our getaway place.

We stayed with the kids and our dog in the two-bedroom apartment, and there was loads of room for everyone. The beds were lovely and comfortable, everywhere was super clean, and it was easy to take the dog for a walk. The views were beautiful too. The hosts have decorated the place so generously and beautifully. I loved the cosy paint colours and wallpapers. Breakfast was lovely and the service friendly, though it costs extra when you stay in the townhouse. We’ll be back! :)

The hotel has lots of old world charm, with lovely staff and good, nicely presented food. I work locally and stay here often, having visited in every season. The rooms can be hot in summer and cold in winter. The spacious bathrooms are nice, but none of the rooms I’ve stayed in had a walk-in shower, and showering over the bath feels a bit primitive. There’s no room service either. The dining room was recently changed from a spacious, comfortable room to a much smaller one that gets noisy and can feel cramped. There is a small overflow dining area, and my meal there was quiet. This place seems mainly set up for tourists looking for an old world experience, rather than for business guests.

We had a character room this time, and everything worked. It was very comfortable. The only thing that would have made the room a five-star experience for me is regular checks by management, perhaps weekly, to catch wear and tear or small problems before they become an issue. This was our second visit, for two nights and three days. The hotel has a fantastic atmosphere, is comfortable and dog friendly, and the staff were attentive and friendly. We ate here and had some of the best food we’ve had on all our travels. Great value in a gorgeous hotel, and I fully recommend it.
