The bathroom made the stay less comfortable than it could have been. It felt too untidy to take a bath comfortably, and may need renovation. The staff and owners were awesome, friendly, attentive and welcoming. Service, location, breakfast and dinner were all great. With improvements to the bathroom, this place could offer an excellent overall experience.

For the £70 I paid, I wish I could give this place more than five stars. It's a beautiful old pub, with down-to-earth staff and decent grub. People leaving poor reviews because rooms or bathrooms aren't immaculate should ask how white their own bathroom sealant is. Mine certainly isn't five-star either. Lots of pubs are closing every week with rates and living costs going up, and some are trying to stay open by offering rooms. If you want five-star accommodation, pay £250 or more a night. You get what you pay for. Regards, Jamie from Sheffield. P.S. I stole a Yorkshire t-bag as my endorsement of this wonderful pub 🙏🏻

We booked a twin ensuite room at the last minute ahead of a trip on the flying scotsman, and the phone service was great. We arrived after food service had ended, so can't comment on the meals. When we said we'd be leaving before breakfast, they offered to prepare a small picnic and let us choose a sandwich. It was waiting for us first thing in the morning. We'd definitely stay again.

The staff were warm, friendly and welcoming, and breakfast the next morning was decent. Unfortunately, the room itself was not as comfortable as I'd hoped. I stayed in Room 1 at The Wentworth Arms, which faces the main road. Its old, decayed single-glazed windows need urgent repair. Traffic was clearly audible all night, and a noticeable draught left the room very cold despite the radiator. The decor and general condition felt very dated. The bathroom needs refurbishment too: several floor tiles were cracked, and the electric shower was difficult to use safely. I had to adjust it very carefully to avoid sudden blasts of extremely hot water. I checked in around 9 pm and was disappointed to find the kitchen had closed at 8 pm, so I had to find food elsewhere. Perhaps that's because it was Monday, but it would have helped to know ahead of time. The hospitality was good, though the accommodation needs significant maintenance and modernisation to make future stays more comfortable.

For a building that's over 200 years old, it's not bad at all. We got a great price for the night and breakfast. The staff were friendly and very helpful, and the food was nicely prepared and presented. There is parking at the rear, plus some off-road space at the front. Access upstairs to the rooms could be an issue for disabled people.
