We've been here a week while staying temporarily in what seems to have become emergency council housing rather than much of a hotel, so I know there are limits to what I can complain about. We do like our room, and the rest of it is clean and tidy. It's spacious and generally clean, though the bathroom needed a serious clean. The shower was weak on jet setting, but grime came off easily with a light scrub, and I cleaned the drain the same way. The sliding glass door has been hanging by one wheel since we arrived. We've seen one staff member and were told our room, but given no other information such as house rules. We were told food and breakfast are for staff only, although we haven't seen other staff. There's a kettle in the room and a toaster and microwave downstairs that we can use. The stairs are so steep and hard to manage with a five-month-old baby while three months pregnant, especially with our room on the top floor. They're killing my hips.

The shower dripped all night, and the room was so bad I contacted head office for feedback but got no reply. For £75, I expected at least a clean room I could sleep in, even knowing the place would be basic. Instead, the room in the Sale accommodation was riddled with mold, with a dirty toilet and disgusting carpet. It was the worst room I've ever stayed in, after travelling around the world. I'm sharing this to spare others the same experience. I can't give it any stars, though I had to select one to post.

The man at reception was helpful, and the room was clean, comfortable and mostly quiet. The furnishings are tired and the place could do with some TLC, but for the price it's perfectly fine for a night's sleep. The reviews had me worried I'd made a mistake, though I think the complaints have been a bit overblown. If you're after a holiday or romantic weekend in manchester, this may not suit you. For a cheap overnight stay, it's good enough.

Very cheap, and the bathroom and bedding were clean. But the walls and carpet were mucky and need redecorating. We booked a double and got a twin, and plumbing noises went on all night. I didn't feel particularly secure there. It's okay for one night, but I wouldn't choose it for an annual holiday or a romantic tryst.

The reception person is still really helpful and accommodating, and the location is convenient for the city and airport. But since it changed from family-run to a chain, the building has been neglected and allowed to deteriorate. The rooms badly need decorating and updating. They don't advertise on websites or do breakfast now. It's sad, because it used to be a friendly family hotel that cared about its premises and customers. Please put time and effort into restoring it.
