Castlefield Hotel

For a budget hotel, I couldn't fault it. The beds were super comfy, everywhere was very clean, and it was quiet, well located and great value. The staff were so polite, especially Denim at reception, who was so lovely. Thanks for a great stay!

The artwork in the rooms was made by the students, which was a lovely touch. This is a really nice hotel with a wonderful initiative behind it: guests support the on-site alternative provision, where young people build leadership skills through arts and sports outside a traditional school setting. I was greeted by a young man who had used the provision and now works at the front of house. The team are great. I didn't use them, but there's an on-site gym, a fabulous pool, sauna and steam room, all at no extra cost. It's great to see young people empowered to learn business skills.

Good value, and the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. It was just right for what we needed. When I visit Manchester again, this will be the first place I consider, since my test for a good place is whether I'd return.

The staff were great, though breakfast was pretty minimal. There was a slight funky smell in the room, and gaps around the door let corridor noise through. No plug by the bed either, so my phone had to charge on the dresser, which was awkward for setting an alarm.
