Kimpton Clocktower Hotel

Breakfast had lots of choice and good-quality items, and checkout was easy. They even gave us free water. The staff were brilliant throughout and nothing felt like too much trouble, so we'll definitely come back. The lobby decor was beautiful, and Britney at the front desk gave us a warm welcome. Check-in was quick and easy, with a complimentary drink at the bar. Our room was spacious and felt luxurious, with a snack tray, complimentary fudge for being a club member, and cold water and milk in the fridge. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the shower was great with complimentary toiletries. After our night out, the room had been turned down, with chocolates on the bed, pillow spray and the heating on. A cosy touch.

I was there for two nights on business and had a great stay. The rooms were lovely, big and very clean, and the service and food were great too. The hotel is so large that I got a little lost. The shopping centre is a few minutes' walk away, and the taxis were on time.

We'd had good stays at the hotel before, so chose one of Kimpton's King Suites for the days around our wedding. We were disappointed by the service and won't be recommending it to visiting friends or our wedding party anymore. My partner had arranged for Prosecco to be in the room when we arrived. It was in the fridge without a note or ice bucket, so we had to ask Reception whether it was the bottle we'd prepaid for. Meanwhile, her father, who was staying there on our recommendation, received a complimentary bottle and a congratulations note for the upcoming celebrations. On our wedding day, my partner arranged another bottle as a surprise for me while I was getting ready. She checked with Reception the night before, and they assured her it would be delivered. It never arrived. At checkout, Reception then tried to charge us for it, which was very frustrating. The room was nicely presented, but there was a large water stain on the ceiling. I expected a more premium room to have had that noticed and fixed.

The staff made our stay over Valentine's weekend. They were so friendly and couldn't do enough to make things great. The rooms were clean and comfortable. If we come back, I'd ask for a room on the second floor or above, since we could hear the bar music from the first floor.
