The reception team made us feel genuinely welcome, and our room was clean, cosy, and looked great. We stayed a couple of nights, and everything exceeded my expectations. The price and location were good too. The receptionist said they’re continually working to improve and upgrade the place, and I could see that effort. I’m not sure why some people have left negative comments. I’d happily return, and I recommend it.

The bathroom was dreadful. The sink was cracked, insulation was exposed behind the sink and toilet, there was obvious mould or mildew in the shower, and the bathroom lock had been ripped out. The handle looked like a rough repair, screwed on with 11 screws. The rest of the room was awful too. It reeked of cigarette smoke, and our “comfort triple” had only two beds, with none of the extra space we expected. Booking only offered us the option to reserve it for one or two people, which seemed odd, though there were only two of us. The wallpaper was peeling, there was damp near the ceiling, two glass panes were cracked, and the keyhole on the main door looked as if it had been hit with a hammer. We regretted coming as soon as we walked in. We found a cheaper, much better Travelodge nearby by the riverside and wished we’d checked there first. Queens guest house is the worst hotel I’ve ever seen. Don’t stay here.

We left within minutes of arriving on 18th January and had to find somewhere else to stay nearby at extra cost. An interaction with another guest made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unsafe, which confirmed our decision to go. I don’t leave bad reviews lightly. I’ve stayed in very basic places and am usually easy-going, but this was shocking and nowhere near an acceptable standard. The room had an overpowering stale cigarette smell, and we’d been given a tiny twin with two beds instead of the Comfort Triple we’d booked, so there was none of the space we’d paid for. There was visible damp by the ceiling, peeling wallpaper, and two cracked, loose window panes that felt unsafe. The main door lock area also looked damaged, as if it had been forced. The bathroom was worse: a cracked sink, exposed pipework and insulation behind the sink and toilet, visible mould or mildew in the shower, and a lock ripped out of the door. The handle had been crudely reattached with several screws, which looked like an unsafe temporary fix. We didn’t stay the night. This property isn’t fit for purpose, doesn’t match its description, and falls short on basic cleanliness, safety, and comfort. I’d advise people to avoid booking.

My first trip booked through Booking was a three-night stay here, and I felt safe and comfortable while discovering British culture. As a Turkish Canadian, I really appreciated that. Communication was clear, the rules were transparent, and everything matched the description. It was meaningful to spend my first stay of the new year here. Everything felt carefully prepared and well organised. I’d gladly tell my family and loved ones about the experience, and confidently recommend the place to anyone visiting Manchester. You can see the effort and care. Thank you.

Affordable, with free parking and close to the city centre, but I definitely won’t come back. My room was in the basement, there was no heating, and the water wasn’t hot in the morning. The sheets hadn’t been changed, there was vomit all over the room, the furniture hadn’t been properly cleaned, and there wasn’t a bin in the room or toilet.
