After our event, my sister, niece and I went to check in, but even after I showed my ID, gave my name, and showed the email confirming the booking, staff said they couldn’t help without a confirmation number from the third party. I’d paid weeks earlier. I was passed between colleagues, none of whom could find the booking. I called my husband to get the number, but although he confirmed the email, they still insisted it was needed. The purchase number I had wasn’t enough. We had to call the booking company’s emergency number ourselves. After two hours standing in the lobby with no progress, we booked a nearby Travelodge instead. We booked ten minutes before arriving there and checked in within two minutes. The third-party company were helpful and eventually got us a confirmation number, but by then it was too late and I was thoroughly wound up, which isn’t like me. In those two hours, hotel staff never asked how we were getting on, offered help, or even offered another room while they sorted it out. I’ve never had this problem at another check-in. The system needs changing. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all. It was disgraceful.

The room was spacious, very nice, and mostly clean. The staff member I dealt with was a different story: extremely rude and patronising, and kept calling me a child even after being told I was 18 or older. I understand checking ID for the person who booked, but the website never said the other people staying in the room would need ID too.

For the price, the location is fantastic, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff were pleasant too. I don’t understand the negative reviews, or what else people expect at this price. It’s definitely good value.

Very central, with easy access to the main train stations, bus routes, restaurants, and lively areas to explore during the day. The staff were lovely and quiet, but did their jobs. Most things were quite clean, apart from the walls and the extremely dusty room. I could wipe a visible print onto a wall with my finger.

The room was spacious, clean, and warm, and the bathroom was clean too. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially Mike, who went out of his way to assist. When the TV had sound but no picture, a staff member quickly fixed it. The room could use some upgrades: there were no ceiling lights, so it was quite dark, and the old round-pin sockets by the bed made charging devices tricky. The room phone had no information or contact numbers, so it wasn’t very useful. The website shows a gym and swimming pool, but there weren’t any. There is a bar, but it only opened on weekends, and breakfast isn’t served onsite. You have to walk about five minutes down the road for it. The price was good, but as they say, you get what you pay for. 30/10/2025
