My son booked me a night here after moving to the area, and I wish I’d stayed longer. Ziz is a wonderful host, always happy to help, and the breakfast was delicious. The beds are really comfortable, and I had the best night’s sleep I’ve had in a long time. The property has loads of character and is beautifully decorated. There’s ample parking, and Matlock is a short walk away. It’s a perfect base for exploring the peaks. Thanks for a lovely stay. I’m looking forward to coming back before too long 🙂

I’ve stayed in lots of B&Bs across the country, and I don’t think you’ll find a better one. The rooms are beautifully decorated, and the home-cooked breakfast was delicious. There’s ample parking, and Matlock train station is within walking distance. Ziz is a star, and the property is stunning. I’ve just moved next door and booked a room for my Dad to thank him for helping me move. It’s an ideal B&B for exploring the Peak District, Matlock, Bakewell and the surrounding areas.

Breakfast has time slots, so there’s no waiting. You can choose from cereals, fruit, yoghurt, a traditional breakfast, mushrooms and local specialities. It’s a lovely place to stay. Sheriff Lodge is about a five-minute walk from the centre of Matlock, a handy base for a few days in the Peaks. We were warmly welcomed and shown to a charming, clean, spacious room. It had three windows, a huge bed and an armchair in the bay window. Thoughtful touches included chocolates, glasses, mugs, tea and hot chocolate. There was a tray for muddy boots and hooks for wet coats, plus an extra electric radiator and blanket if needed. The room was warm and cosy. There were books to read and a large TV, and the wardrobe had complimentary slippers and a box of useful items like a shoe horn, sewing kit, toothpaste and sanitary products.

We spent two nights at Sheriff Lodge for my wife’s birthday. Our room, The Warren, was spacious, warm and cosy. It’s a beautifully presented period property, kept to a high standard. Breakfast was delicious and nicely presented, and the location is ideal, about a 10-minute walk from town. A great base for enjoying the area.

Ziz was a great host and pointed us towards walks both nearby and further out, along with useful tips on where to eat. Breakfast was spot on too. We had a great stay a few weeks ago, and five stars hardly covers the service!
