We left feeling like the place had lost its soul, and I wouldn't stay there again. The basics were in poor shape: paint was peeling, the TV didn't work properly, the shower only dribbled with no pressure, and the wardrobe handle had come off, leaving bits at the cupboard base. My husband fixed the handle. There was just one tissue in the box, and the bath towels were stained. The bedroom WiFi was poor enough that I had to go to the bar for a better signal. We paid £95, which felt like a rip-off. We complained, and the female owner said she'd speak to her husband and get back to us, but didn't do so before checkout. I asked reception about speaking with the manager, who I noticed was upstairs. The staff member went to check, then asked me to leave my email address and said someone would contact me. I suppose I'll have to wait and see if I ever hear from the hotel. We wanted to support independent hotels when booking somewhere to stay, but not when the basics aren't provided. They take your money and give you nothing decent for it. We've booked Premier Inn for our next visit in October. If I could give this place half a star, I would.

This room needs a full refurbishment. The wallpaper was peeling, there were holes in the walls, and the loose carpet was a trip hazard. The shower was too low, and using it felt like trying to crack a safe. The room was tired and had clearly had very little attention.

The place smelled terrible, and the staff were rude and unhelpful. The hotel was dirty, damp, and dangerous. There was a hidden lip down to the shower, and the bathroom light switch was behind the door. To reach it, I had to step into the shower area and close the door first. It felt like a health hazard, and I nearly broke my neck trying to find the switch. The walls were damp, and our things stuck to the surfaces. My partner was bitten. At 2am on our first night, we were trying to find somewhere else to stay. I’ve travelled around the world and stayed in many third-world countries, and this was the worst hotel I’ve ever been in. It was a disgusting rip-off. I understand that the hotel provides a place for people dealing with addiction or homelessness, and it’s good they have somewhere to go, but charging people £200 for two nights in these conditions is terrible.

The rooms were clean, though a bit basic, and the hotel is well placed for town. We didn't try the bar or restaurant, but the Indian food smells coming from there were very inviting. The outside is knackered, and while the rear car park was OK, we were worried about leaving our bikes there. It's fine, but in my opinion, not good value for money.
