The room and entertainment were already a letdown, but the food was the worst part. We paid £330 for the New Year's Eve package and got no drinks with it, not even water or coffee at breakfast. The chips were cold and hard, the chicken seemed questionable, and all three of us, including our 5-year-old, came home with sickness and diarrhea. Our cabin was dirty, the soap dispensers were empty, the pillows were paper-thin, and the TV didn't work. We reported it at 11:00 PM to watch the countdown. A handyman turned up at 11:20 PM smelling strongly of cigarette smoke and said the socket needed replacing. That meant drilling into the wall at midnight and waking our child, so we watched the New Year countdown around an iPhone instead. The disco was in a tiny room with barely any dance floor or anywhere to sit. The sound was painfully loud for small children, and we saw families leave because they couldn't stand it. When I complained, manager "Darren" admitted they had failed, but offered free tickets to return. After the dirty cabin and the illness, why would we want to? I strongly advise families to stay away. This felt like a rip-off, with every possible corner cut and no regard for our experience or health.

The Dino Den Stegosaurus cabin was cozy, but it felt suited to two children under 8, with perhaps two parents at most. The bunk bed is a bit small for a teenager. There was black mold spread across the wall beneath the sink in one of the dishwashing rooms. Inside the cabin, there were cobwebs and dust, yellowish duvets covered in lint, and old water still in the kettle. Cutlery, bowls, and plates weren't provided, so bring your own if you're planning a stay.

We had a good time and would consider visiting Adventures village again next year if a similar deal came up. We'd been wary after reading reviews, but booked a last-minute night in Jungle Safari Lodge, python number 10, and were pleasantly surprised. It looked good and suited us for one night. The double bed could use a new mattress, though the bunk beds were sturdy. There were a few kitchen utensils, but we weren't cooking. If you plan to eat in, keep meals simple and bring anything you want to be sure you have. On-site entertainment started at 4.30pm and seemed good, though we didn't do much because we were eating and had other plans. We'd booked a restaurant table late, then cancelled because we couldn't get in until late, our fault for leaving the booking. A Harvester one mile away worked out well. Breakfast was included, with a simple menu. We chose a bacon butty. The bacon was excellent quality and, although the roll was pre-cut and had no butter, that was fine by us. We left full and were grateful for the deal.

The staff we spoke to were polite, but the place looked neglected when we walked around, which was a shame. Our so-called luxury cabin was run down and didn't seem maintained. We ate at the reception cafe. The food was poor: both pizzas had hardly any topping and were burnt, while the chips were undercooked. The place could be much better if the staff put more care and effort in.

For the price, it was excellent value. I really enjoyed my one-night stay. The cabin was quirky in a lovely way and very well equipped. Thank you.
